Last Week in January from Bayou Quilts

Today is dreary and overcast. No rain in the forecast, but a gloomy sky. A little breezy and the chimes are sounding, leaving that long, deep resonance in the air.

Stitching. Finished the third panel for 25 Million Stitches! It will go in the mail this week, leaving me having to begin a new stitchery project to keep myself calm. :)

25 Million Stitches. Still working on panel #3. I seem to be spending all my spare time on this panel. Which is a good thing for my blood pressure as I avoid as much news as possible.

Christmas bags finished. Both of these were started a year or two ago, and it took very little time to finish them up. January Week Two, Done and Dusted from Bayou Quilts

Recently, I've been reciting this mantra: Time to adjust my crown and get to work. (I don't remember where I saw the original version, but I've been using it several times a day.)

This morning while I was making an organizing effort, I spotted my real crown, which sits on the head of a papier mache cat, and decided to actually wear my crown for a bit.

First Week in the New Year from Bayou Quilts

25 Million Stitches Project. Panel 2. I think I'm finished with this panel. Time to get it in the mail.

I enjoyed working on both panels while making my way through some Netflix shows and listening to podcasts. Often, however, I would sit down to stitch and simply let my thoughts take me where they would, in silence. Both panels are typical of the way I stitch, improvising on patterns, threads, and stitches as I go, but I loved finding the quote for this panel to give me a more thoughtful beginning.

Miscellaneous Assortment of Topics :) from Bayou Quilts

Dementia is something that almost all of us have some personal experience. This video is about Bournmouth University's trial using Tai Chi with dementia sufferers and their carers. Preliminary results find fewer falls among patients who participated. An added benefit is that both patients and carers enjoyed the process. I still love Tai Chi, although I rarely practice any more, but given this impetus, I may return to a daily practice. Well, I'll think about it anyway.

Stitching, Snail Mail, Reading from Bayou Quilts

Stitching. I began working on a second panel for 25 Million Stitches as soon as I finished the first one.

Silly. I don't know why, but feeding the worms is much more amusing than feeding the cats. Another smoothie should keep them happy for a while.

Sometimes I just put a Ritz cracker topped with a lettuce leaf from the garden and a banana slice because it makes me laugh at the idea of the worms feasting.

Another Project Done from Notes from Studio B

I would like to Thank all those who left messages of support for my husbands surgery. It's over, we are back home, there were a few problems but he got through it and is doing fairly well. He has about 4-6 weeks for recovery and I can see an improvement everyday. Next step is in 10 days we go back to Boise for another test and hopefully catheter removal, step by step to get healthy again. Cancer sure changes your life. A Slow Start to Daily Stitching #5 from Notes from Studio B

This was a busy week, I had seven family members here for four days so my stitching time was minimal. We had a great time even though five of our group didn't make it because of weather. We did the annual Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving morning, with the usual coffee stop on the way home.

On Friday morning instead of Black Friday shopping we stayed home and created.

Daily Stitching #4 almost done from Notes from Studio B

I'm almost finished with my fourth daily stitching for the year, just some blank spots around the edges are left to do.

I'm still undecided on what to do for the next one, I have three ideas in the running. Hopefully by next week I'll have settled on one.

Oak Leaves from Notes from Studio B

A friend of mine has an oak tree in her backyard so I gathered a hand full of leaves to print. Most of the oak trees around here are red oak and have points at the end of the leaves, but I was told this is a Burr Oak and the leaves are more rounded. At any rate I liked the shape of the leaves. I had time to do four cyanotype prints, removed the color from three of them, left one that way and then toned the other two. So far I have the prints, an idea or two ...
